Christmas markets are a fantastic way to get in the festive spirit. Filled to the brim with mulled wine, artisanal goodies, and twinkling lights as far as the eye can see, it’s no surprise that roughly 34% of adults in the UK planned trips to Christmas Markets back in 2019.
With two years of market closures and festivities being put to a halt due to Covid, this year Christmas markets are back with a bang. Making up for missed time, it seems this year Christmas markets have arrived earlier, turned the lights on brighter, and had us singing ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’, all that louder and we are loving it.
Just as mainstream markets have been flooding in, in their hundreds, vegan and sustainable Christmas markets have also been emerging throughout the country this year. Bringing you the best of local, vegan crafts, all these markets offer something unique and special to your holiday season. So, here are our top picks for must-try vegan Christmas markets, to get you and your loved ones in the Christmas spirit this year:
The streets of Hackney will soon be transformed into a Christmas winter wonderland, as Bohemia Place Christmas Market returns for a month of festive magic. The market will be packed out with local traders bringing you the best vegan food and small businesses that East London has to offer. As well as many vegan food stalls and independent traders, the market also offers craft workshops for anyone who wants to try their hand at making gifts this year. Starting this weekend, all the way through to mid-December, the Christmas Market will be on every weekend, so there’s plenty of chance to go have a look around.
Kicking it all off on the 26th- 28th November Bohemia Place Christmas Market will be hosting their ‘Black Owned Christmas Weekender’ in collaboration with Black Eats London. The market will showcase the best of Black-owned small businesses. From food to make-up, they’ve got it all, so we wouldn’t wait around if we were you.

Bringing some Christmas charm to the town of Oxted, Sparkle Vegan Events is holding a Christmas Vegan Sprinkle for all to enjoy. Oxted’s Christmas artisan market will hold a diverse range of vegan offerings, as well as entertainment such as carol singers and a Ferris wheel for some festive family fun. There will also be the switch on of Oxted’s Christmas lights and even the chance to meet the big man himself- Father Christmas. So, get your Christmas list ready and head to Oxted this weekend to get the Christmas spirit started.

Enjoy the warming glow of Christmas this year at Kings Cross Canopy Christmas Market. Surrounded by the smell of fresh pine, under the twinkling starry night lights, it really will feel as if Christmas is all around. The general market runs from 26th November till the 23rd of December, but for one day the market is converted into a vegan Christmas paradise.
There will be a range of vegan street food and organic wines and craft beers to relish as you make your way around the stalls offering handmade crafts. This is a great place to find personal, ethically made gifts and Christmas day favourites.

Gloucester is back with their 4th Vegan Christmas Market this year. With over 60 stalls, this vegan marketplace is the perfect place to find all of your Christmas shopping needs. If like us you hate prowling the shops high and low, this is ideal, as the market houses in one space everything you will need for vegan and cruelty free shopping. Better yet, there are plenty of stands offering vegan food and drink to keep spirits high. Unsurprisingly, Gloucester Vegan Christmas Market gets pretty busy, so they offer a queue jump ticket this year if you want first dibs of what’s on offer.

Portobello’s infamous vegan night market is having a Christmas makeover once again this year. Situated in the heart of the lively Portobello Road, an area known for its glorious vintage shopping and thriving multicultural community, the vegan night market is a true reflection of this. Although technically a market, what can be expected from your time at Portobello Christmas Night Market is an all-vegan street party, filled with great food, ethical clothing, and a DJ to have you dancing your way around the place.
