31 Jul Recycled Jewellery Must Haves - Eco Jewellery Guide
The global jewellery industry emits a large amount of greenhouse gas emissions and mining for precious metals is one of the main issues. Alongside the environmental implications of mining, The Human Rights Watch highlight the hidden social costs of jewellery production, especially around worker exploitation and a lack of supply chain transparency. After learning about these issues, we wanted to find out how you can still wear jewellery without harming the environment or workers.
The answer we found is supporting jewellery designers local to the UK who create recycled jewellery. Eco silver is a material we found most commonly used by ethical jewellery designers to created recycled pieces, it is the same quality as normal silver but instead of coming from mines, the silver is made by recycling existing jewellery which may have now gone out of fashion.
In this blog we have picked some of our best-selling eco-friendly jewellery pieces on our store, all of which are made in the UK using recycled silver by independent jewellery makers who we work directly with. These eco jewellery pieces demonstrate that you do not have to compromise on quality or style when buying 'new' jewellery.
