These ethical boxes are handcrafted from Sweet Chestnut wood felled at National Trust's Ashridge Estate, Hertfordshire.
The shading effect on the wood is made by a process called 'ebonising'. This effect is created by rubbing a mixture of vinegar and iron onto the box which causes a chemical reaction with the tannin in the wood, the result turns the wood fibres black.
As these are handmade, there are slight variations in size and grain which makes each item unique.
Each product comes with an information card telling you what kind of wood was used.
The vase measures approximately 85mm in length and 70mm in diameter.
Materials - Sustainably Sourced Sweet Chestnut.
Product Packaging - Recycled card and wood shavings (dependent on product).
