Ara the altar
This pair of recycled gold hoop earrings from Ara the Altar features an organic form and raw finish.
Drawing inspiration from the ‘Sea of Vapour’ — one of the twelve Lunar Maria.
100% recycled solid 9ct gold.
Measuring approximately 28mm tall and 15mm at their widest point.
Hallmarked with Ara the altar’s registered mark at the Sheffield Assay Office.
To wear — The inside of each earring has a groove to catch the end of the ear wire. Once in the ear, gently push the ear wire down and into the groove. To remove, gently lift the ear wire vertically.
THE LUNAR MARIA
The rapid cooling of basaltic lava resulted in the twelve volcanic rock formations on the moon, collectively known as the Lunar Maria.
The Lunar Maria or ‘Seas of the Moon’, were given their names by early astronomers who mistook their solid forms for liquid.
Please allow up to 6 weeks for Sea of Vapour to be created in gold before dispatch.
Every piece of Ara adornment is accompanied by a European hemp pocket. This is designed in-house, ethically made and hand dyed here in the UK.
